Best Classic Car Shows UK 2019

2019 is going to be an incredible year for classic car fans with a wealth of spectacular shows planned across the nation.  Whether you're into classic cars, supercars or vintage motors you are in for a real treat this year.  We have taken the time to create a guide to all the best classic car shows across the UK in 2019.  Sit back, relax and start making some plans for a bonanza season of adrenaline fueled classic motoring fun!

 

RACE RETRO STONELEIGH

Kicking off the list of shows for 2019 is the Race Retro gathering in Stoneleigh Park - Warwickshire.  This years show will pay special homage to legendary British racing driver Mike Hawthorn.  A special display showcasing cars and artefacts from Hawthorns illustrious career will be on assembled on the day.  The infamous Lotus Eleven that was raced by Hawthorn himself will be holding fort on the day.  Among the many other classic cars at Race Retro will be a D-Type Jaguar which has been rebuilt using the original chassis of the 1955 Le Mans winning car complete with original license plate.  Get yourself down to Warwickshire for some British Racing nostalgia!

PRACTICAL CLASSICS RESTORATION SHOW - NEC

This is going to be a big one!  With over 1,000 cars pencilled in for the NEC - the Practical Classics Restoration show in Birmingham is a must for any classic car fan in the midlands area.  This show will bring fans up close and personal with the restoration side of classic cars.  With a strong emphasis on practical demonstrations and live workings from some 175 classic car clubs in attendance.  The show will be the biggest yet with an additional hall being added to facilitate numbers on the day.  One of many highlights includes the Rover Coupe Owners Club marking the 20 year anniversary since production finished up on the Coupe and 30 years since the R8 platform was launched.

FLYING SCOTSMAN ENDURANCE RALLY

From Windermere Lakes to Gleneagles - this year marks the 11th Flying Scotsman classic endurance rally.  This April auto-extravaganza promises to deliver some of the most scenic views and exciting new challenges of all the car shows in 2019.  With a maximum number of 60 entries the route will explore the roads less travelled by in Cumbria, the Northern Pennines, Dumfries, Galloway and the Southern Highlands before finally arriving in the comfort of Gleneagles Hotel.  The action is spread out over three days and the sheer length of the route allows ample opportunity to view the vintage motors as they trundle along.

BICESTER SUNDAY SCRAMBLE

Bicester Heritage are staging their Sunday Scramble this year on the 28th April.  Just four years in the running this new event is really going from strength to strength.  The Sunday Scramble brings together thousands of enthusiasts in the Oxfordshire area and show cases a wide range of classic cars ranging from Peugeot 505s to vintage Lamborghinis.  The venue lends itself perfectly to the relaxed and informal gathering that creates a special "time-warp atmosphere unlike any other event".  What better way for a classic car fan to spend a Sunday.

DONINGTON HISTORIC FESTIVAL

Donington Historic Festival is one of the highlights of the classic car motor sport year.  2019 will see it staged over three days in early may.  The event has been running for seven years now and is a firm favourite among historic racing car fans.  There will be hundreds of historic world class racing cars, an array of classic car clubs and thousands of enthusiasts in attendance at the Donington Park circuit.  Qualification will be staged all day Friday with two full days of racing to follow on Saturday and Sunday.

BLENHEIM PALACE JAGUAR FESTIVAL

The Jaguar Enthusiasts Club will stage their annual classic motor festival at the stunning Blenheim Palace in May this year.  If you are a classic jaguar fan then this is going to be a real show stopper.  This year promises to be the biggest gathering of Jaguars the JEC has ever seen.  The palace courtyard will host a collection of Jaguars from the film screen along with some specially selected models that have not been seen for many years.  The venue itself is a must see and is renowned for its spectacular architecture and gardens.

STIRLING & DISTRICT CLASSIC CAR SHOW

This May Strathallan Games Park in Bridge of Allan will play host to the Stirling and District classic car show.  Over 700 classic vehicles from 1900 onward will be on display including cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles.  The day will be complemented by a range of autojumble stalls and fair rides to keep families and small children happy.  This is very much a family day out and funds raised will be donated to charity.  It promises to be a great day out for all in the Stirling area.

THE INTERNATIONAL SPORTS & CLASSIC CAR MOTORSHOW

This year sees the inaugural outdoor International Sports & Classic Car show take place at the sprawling East Of England Arena and Events Centre.  This is one of the biggest shows in the UK with over 3,000 classics expected on the day.  The event is being organised by one of the major players in American event management - so a whole different feel is to be expected.  Spread over three days the event will mark 90 years of the Scuderia Ferrari and the centenary of Bentley.  This will lend an exciting British and Italian flavour to proceedings which will be topped off by a classical music concert with an outstanding line up of musicians.

LA VIE EN BLEU

One of our favourites, La Vie en Bleu celebrates all that is great about French and Italian motoring.  Set in the beautiful surroundings of Prescott, run by the Bugatti Owners Club, this spectacular event will be staged in late May. All car enthusiasts are welcome and a Bugatti is no longer a requirement of BOC membership, (the club now boasts an impressive 1,750+ members).  The show will host a spectacular array of classic and supercars over the weekend from the last 100 years.  There will be a family friendly feel to the festival with off track entertainment to keep the little ones occupied.  The pinnacle of the show will be the breathtaking collection of Bugattis on display.  Pencil this one in if you're a supercar fan.

MG LIVE

This years MGLive! event will bring together an incredible gathering of MGs from all over the globe as they do battle at the world famous Silverstone GP circuit.  Fifteen races will be staged over two days involving 300 drivers, six race championships and two series.  Away from the GP circuit there will be a Sprint around the Stowe Circuit - racing against the clock drivers will compete for the fastest lap.  Classic buses will be available for transport onsite and children under 15 go free.  What's not to like!

SHELSLEY HILL CLASSIC HILL CLIMB

This year promises to be another fantastic year for the self proclaimed 'oldest motorsports venue' in the world.  Running over two days in June the Shelsley Hill Classic Climb festival brings together an inspiring array of retro and classic racing cars who compete in the challenging Shelsley Walsh hill climb.  The climbing course spans just 1,000 yards and has an impressive gradient of 1:7.  It is expected that more than 150 drivers will compete over the course of the two days.  To complement the great classic cars on show there will also be an impressive selection of fine food and entertainment to keep everyone happy.

CLAYDON ESTATE - FESTIVAL OF THE UNEXCEPTIONAL

This year will see the sixth edition of the Festival of the Unexceptional.  Billed as a festival of the 'ordinary classics' these beauties are far from ordinary and often in the modern day - very rare.  Due to it's growing size and ever increasing popularity the show has been moved to the easily accessed Claydon Estate near Buckingham.  There will be a competition for the best dressed enthusiasts who wear outfits that match the era.  There will be a specially selected display of 45 'Official Cars' showcasing the best and most spectacular of the 'unexceptional'.

LONDON BELGRAVIA CLASSIC CAR SHOW

The Belgravia Classic Car Show will be staged in the capital in the grand surroundings of Belgrave Square Garden.  The 4 acre leafy green oasis, dating from 1867, will play host to some of the greatest classic motors from over the decades.  The normally private garden will be open to the public for the day and amongst the 100+ classic motors on display will be a McLaren 650, Ferrari 250SWB and a Rolls Royce P1.  Visitors will also be able to enjoy some entertainment, live music, food and beverages.

GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

Nestled in the charming surrounds of the Goodwood House parkland the Festival of Speed is billed as the ultimate classic car summer garden party.  It is a celebration of all that is great and glamorous about classic motor cars.  Spectators will get the chance to get up close and personal with some of the most striking classics and the drivers who made them famous from a bygone era.  Adrenaline will be flowing as the retro racers compete in the annual race to the summit of the Hillclimb track.  This is a unique weekend in the motor sport calendar that brings together over 100,000 visitors - a mix of motor sport royalty, classic cars and stars.

SHERBORNE CLASSIC & SUPERCAR SHOW

July sees Sherborne Castle play host to the 16th annual Classic & Supercar show.  There will be an abundance of impressive motors with an expected 2,000+ dazzling classics in attendance - so get there early, there will be a lot to see.  Porshe has been selected by show organisers as the marque feature for 2019.  The carefully assembled porsche collection, in conjunction with the Porsche Centre Bournemouth, will feature a sensational line-up of rally, race and road cars from 1948 to the present day.  Show organisers are busy assembling a collection of early 356 series through to the 959, latest 911’s, 918 Hypercars, the Carrera GT and the iconic 917 Le Mans winning classics.

SILVERSTONE CLASSIC

The Silverstone Classic is one of the biggest events on the UK classic car calendar.  Prepare to me amazed by over 10,000 classic cars, 100 car club displays and stunning historic motor racing on the world famous circuit.  Spectators will have free access to the grandstand and paddocks and interactive driving features.  The fun doesn't stop there.  There will be entertainment away from the cars too - with live music from headline performers, a retro fun fair, dare devil air displays and a shopping village.  Better still - the entry ticket covers everything!  If you can make it to the Northamptonshire area in late July you really need to pencil this one in.

BRITISH MOTOR MUSEUM - NATIONAL METRO & MINI SHOW

This Mini extravaganza will celebrate 60 years of Mini at the British Motor Museum in early August, (the classic mini turned 60 in 2019).  Hundreds of the finest examples of the Great British classic will be on display from the famous '621 AOK', (the first mini ever produced), to the iconic ‘X411 JOP’, (the last classic mini).  This year also marks twenty five years of the Rover 100 and the very last model ever produced will be sitting proudly on display.  Enthusiasts can also enter their own Minis into a range of competitions on the day for just £7.  It promises to be a an incredible day for Mini fans of all ages.

TATTON PARK - PASSION FOR POWER

Tatton Park will play host to the ever popular 'Passion for Power' festival in mid-August.  This will be another big one on the 2019 classic car calendar.  The event will be attended by over three hundred private entries and ninety classic and performance car clubs.  It is estimated that there will be over 2,000 classic motors on display over the two days.  This is another festival that strives to cater for the whole family and there will be kids' rides and entertainment, food stalls, beer tents and live music.  Eligible cars can be admitted free of charge.  As well as classic, high-performance and supercars are also welcome at the event.  Tatton park is located just outside Knutsford in the Cheshire area.

BROOKLANDS FORD CAPRI 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Brooklands will this year host a special Ford Capri 50 year anniversary festival.  The historic venue will bring together an incredible gathering of some of the nations most stunning Capris from yester-year.  These British icons will be on display in the motoring village, paddock, finishing straight and on the climb up the test hill.  This fifty year anniversary has been in the pipeline pretty much since the close of the 45 year anniversary and Capri enthusiasts will not be disappointed.  Entry on the day will be £16 for adults and £9 for kids.

GOODWOOD REVIVAL

The Goodwood Revival - possibly the highlight of the retro calendar.  More than just a classic car show the Goodwood Revival is an incredible immersive retro experience that has to be seen to be believed.  Spanning three days in mid September this gathering is set in an entirely different time period.  Everyone, spectators and competitors alike, are encouraged to join into the spirit of the Revival and take a step back in time and get dressed-up as if in the 40's, 50's or 60's.  Hugely popular and always a lot of fun the show centres around adrenaline fuelled wheel-to-wheel racing and spectacular classic racing cars.  Past and present stars of the motor sport world compete for the highly coveted Goodwood Revival trophies.  Big crowds are expected with the show pulling in 150,000 plus every year.

CASTLE COMBE AUTUMN CLASSIC

Early October sees the arrival of the Castle Combe Autumn Classic.  The Castle Combe circuit has been playing host to motor sport events for over 60 years.  In 2012 the idea was born to create a classic themed meeting and it has proven to be one of the most popular events on the calendar of the historic venue.  This year will see the eighth incarnation of the classic car show and racing from the 1960s will take centre stage.  British successes from that era will be celebrated - expect to see clubmans, souped up saloons and formula ford tearing up the track.

FOOTMAN JAMES CLASSIC CAR SHOW

The Footman James show will witness an incredible gathering of club stands and private collections.  2019 will witness the 16th year of the show and it will bring together an eclectic mix of stunning classic motors, restoration projects, autojumbles and the opportunity to get some professional advice on your classic car project from the experts.  This gathering will combine everything from old rusting barn finds to the most pristine, mint condition classics in the nation.  If you are interested in vintage car restoration projects then this is definitely the place for you.  It will be the ideal venue to meet like minded enthusiasts and share advice.  The show will conclude with the annual auction from Charterhouse.

LONDON TO BRIGHTON VETERAN CAR RUN

The London to Brighton Veteran Car run is open to all veteran vehicles dating from before January 1905.  The parade of cars will begin departing Hyde Park at 07:00am with the final group leaving about 8:30.  There will be up to sixteen cars travelling per group with the oldest cars leaving first.  With just two minute intervals between groups the action will be thick and fast and there will be plenty to feast the eyes on.  There is an official coffee stop in Crawley with cars estimated to be arriving there approximately 1 hour 40 minutes after departure.  The event is staged to commemorate the raising of the national speed limit from 4 miles per hour to a breath taking 14mph.  The run finishes up on Madeira Drive in Brighton.

LANCASTER INSURANCE NEC CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC is the biggest classic motor show in the UK calendar.  In fact it is billed as the largest gathering of classic car clubs in the world with over an estimated 2,500 classic cars on display over the weekend in early November.  Staged over one million square feet, (18 football pitches), of exhibition space at Birmingham's NEC the show will bring together over 300 car & bike clubs from all over the UK.  The show will also see an assembly of the nation's leading classic car dealers who will be selling a range of models to suit all interests and budgets.  The show will be complemented by a massive autojumble of spare parts and memorabilia, a classic car auction by Silverstone Auctions and the presence of a wealth of celebrities from the world of motoring.  Pencil it in now, it's going to be a big one!
