These heavy gauge imperial flat washers have been built for tough service. They are constructed from heavy pattern steel and are Bright Zinc PLated for maximum longevity and corrosion resistance.A flat washer is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped) which has a hole in the middle and is usually employed to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a nut or a screw.
Galvanic Corrosion Preventation -
These imperial BZP washers serve the additional important role of helping to prevent galvanic corrosion by insulating steel screws from aluminium surfaces. Galvanic corrosion, sometimes referred to as Bimetallic Corrosion, is an electrochemical process whereby one metal corrodes more rapidly when it is placed in electrical contact with another metal in the presence of an electrolyte.
