POPULAR APPLICATIONS
Set screws are used in a vast range of diverse applications but they are especially suited to jobs where the fixing of components using a rust free screw is recommended.  The most common examples are securing a pulley or gear to a shaft.  The zinc plate on the surface of the screw serves as a sacrificial anode so that even if the coating is scratched, the exposed steel will still be protected by the remaining zinc.  They are ideal for jobs in challenging environments, eg: the automotive industry.  Browse our range above for sizes and pack quantities.

WHAT IS A SET SCREW?
A set screw is a type of screw most commonly employed to secure an object within or against another.  They do not require the use of a nut. The most common examples are securing a pulley or gear to a shaft.  Set screws can be screwed into a pulley hub so that the endpoint bears firmly against the shaft. The fastening action is by friction between the screw and the shaft, often assisted by some amount of elastic or plastic deformation.
